Biography

Melodie Murray has taught secondary mathematics for 14 years. The first eight of those years were at Hoxie High School in Hoxie, Arkansas, where she served as the mathematics Department Chair and assisted with curriculum. The last six of those years have been spent at Pocahontas High School in Pocahontas, Arkansas, where she teaches College Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus for concurrent college credit, as well as other subjects such as Geometry and Algebra 2, as needed. Melodie also teaches adjunct mathematics courses for Black River Technical College, as needed. Melodie graduated from Arkansas State University in 2009 with a B.S. in mathematics education, in 2013 with an M.S. in mathematics education, and again in 2022 with an Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction. Melodie likes to stay active in the teacher community outside of the classroom. She achieved National Board Certification in 2017. She has also participated in the STRIVE program through the University of Little Rock where she was partnered with local industry leaders to create a classroom lesson linking industry standards with the mathematics curriculum. Later, she participated in the Data Analytics Program through the University of Arkansas, where she was partnered with faculty engineers to design a classroom lesson linking focused engineering topics with the mathematics curriculum.
