What motivates you to contribute to excellence in STEM teaching?

I am motivated to provide students with the opportunity to learn and use important STEM skills so they can thrive. As a mathematics teacher, I believe that our work is crucial to help students not only learn mathematical skills, but also apply them to solve complex problems. Technological advances have changed the way that we must approach education, and I am excited to contribute my skills and continue to learn in order to be a better educator for students.

What has been the most transformative moment that affirmed your impact on STEM education?

My most recent experience as a presenter for Geometry and Advanced Algebra sessions at the 2025 Georgia MathCon conference has affirmed my impact on STEM education. As a presenter, I was able to provide resources, activities, and a new insight into how to make mathematics classrooms more impactful. We worked together to unpack challenging concepts and build innovative methods and activities to empower educators to help make connections and deepen student understanding. As a lifelong learner, this is the way that I will continue to be impacted by STEM education leaders as well as share my own knowledge and experiences to help impact other educators and instructional leaders.

Using your platform as a Presidential Awardee, how do you hope to advance our nation in STEM?

I hope to continue to share my knowledge and experiences to other teachers. I also hope to continue to learn and grow as a STEM educator so that my students learn new and innovative approaches to challenging problems so they can become lifelong problem solvers. Our students are the next generation, and they have the potential to change the world. I hope that my work as an educator and instructional leader will help move the nation forward in mathematics instruction and STEM education.
