What motivates you to contribute to excellence in STEM teaching?

I’m motivated by the belief that all students deserve access to high-quality STEM experiences. Empowering students through growth mindset and real-world problem solving transforms both achievement and identity. I’m also inspired by the educators I support—helping them grow through coaching and collaboration is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work.

What has been the most transformative moment that affirmed your impact on STEM education?

One of the most transformative moments in my career came while facilitating a district-wide professional learning series focused on shifting math instruction from procedural fluency to conceptual understanding. A veteran teacher shared that, after years of feeling disconnected from math instruction, she had a renewed excitement for teaching math and was seeing her students engage in ways they never had before. Witnessing her transformation—and the resulting impact on her students—affirmed the power of investing in educators and the ripple effect it has on student learning in STEM.

Using your platform as a Presidential Awardee, how do you hope to advance our nation in STEM?

I will promote equity in STEM by advocating for inclusive, high-quality instruction for all learners. With experience in coaching, early childhood, and special education, I aim to support educators in using data-driven, differentiated practices that build student confidence and curiosity. Advancing STEM begins with empowering teachers to inspire the next generation of problem solvers.
