I am motivated by a passion to make STEM education accessible, engaging, and relevant for all students, regardless of background or ability. Seeing students build confidence, solve real-world problems, and discover new possibilities through hands-on STEM experiences motivates me daily. I believe in creating inclusive learning environments that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a lasting interest in STEM careers, helping to close opportunity gaps and foster future innovators.
One of the most transformative moments in my STEM education journey was when a group of my students continuously won a Maryland State Award in the eCybermission competition (many of these students had never previously identified with STEM subjects). Seeing them present their community-focused project with confidence and pride was truly unforgettable. Today, several of those students have graduated from university with degrees in STEM fields. Their success affirmed for me that with equitable access, consistent support, and encouragement, students from all backgrounds can not only excel but also thrive in STEM disciplines, fueling my commitment to expanding opportunities for underrepresented learners.
As a Presidential Awardee, I am committed to advancing our nation’s STEM goals by promoting equity and access for all students. I provide virtual and in-person STEM programs to underserved communities locally and nationally. By fostering hands-on, culturally responsive STEM education, I am able to empower diverse learners to pursue STEM careers. This platform enables me to advocate for sustainable, inclusive STEM initiatives that strengthen our nation’s innovation and workforce.
