Nellie Stowers has been an educator for 16 years and has spent the last 10 years teaching sixth and seventh grade mathematics and science at Manulele Tausala Elementary School. She previously taught pre-kindergarten at Siliaga Elementary School for three years, and also taught at Pavaiai Elementary School for her first three years as an educator. Nellie shares her passion for science with her students through hands-on activities and allows her students to experience their level of learning, gain their knowledge of understanding, and make connections to real-world situations. Nellie has served as a teacher leading professional development for teachers from her school. She has presented activities related to standards and benchmarks to make lessons more comprehensible. She is also certified to utilize Acellus to help her students to accelerate learning and gain the confidence necessary to succeed in life. Nellie earned her B.A. in education and an M.Ed. in curriculum studies with a culturally conscious and place-based STEM curriculum emphasis, both from the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. She is a certified pre-kindergarten through eighth grade educator.
