The Presidential Award means more awareness of the important and inspiring work of mathematics and science teachers. The award also means connecting teachers from around the country so that teachers can raise each other.

Carly Levine Ashford, CT | K-6, Science, 2022

Carly Levine has taught at Ashford School for the past 13 years. She currently teaches science for kindergarten through fourth grade students and robotics for fifth through eighth grade students. Carly works to incorporate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into her curriculum. She recently participated in a Fund for Teachers Fellowship to create lessons to combat science misconceptions. In addition, she works to connect her science lessons to global real-world examples that allow her students to collaborate with students from around the world. Often, these exchanges of ideas lead to action projects that not only give her students a deeper understanding of the content, but also enable them to take action on both a local and global scale. Carly has a B.A. in human ecology from College of the Atlantic, an M.S.W. from the University of Connecticut, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership also from the University of Connecticut.
