I get to invite students into the world of STEM and help them build a career making the world a better place. I try to give them an authentic taste of engineering before college by collaborating with practicing engineers, since I am not one myself. The process of being considered for the Presidential Award has been powerfully validating, improved my instruction, and helped me be a better mentor to both students and teachers, all thanks to the support of many outstanding people.
