Camilla Walck has taught science at Princess Anne High School for 21 years. She has taught Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Advanced and Core Biology. For the past 17 years she has been educating 12th grade International Baccalaureate (IB) students on the wonders of advanced biological concepts. Camilla has taught methods courses at Virginia Wesleyan College, and currently teaches Anatomy as an adjunct professor at Tidewater Community College. She has presented at many conferences, including the annual Virginia Association of Science Teachers conference later this year. Camilla has had her work published in a peer reviewed journal and is the sole author of an IB Biology review book. She has received grants to purchase biotechnology equipment and a greenhouse. Camilla believes that science should be taught interdisciplinarity, with a student centered, hands-on approach. She is a supporter of personalized learning and is working on professional development within her school district to investigate and educate other teachers about the power of personalized learning strategies. Camilla earned her A.S. from Tidewater Community College while raising her three young children. She continued her educational journey for the next 15 years, while earning her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Old Dominion University. Camilla is certified to teach earth science, biology, and oceanography.
