Rebecca Sterrett has been an elementary educator for 21 years. She is currently a second grade teacher at Vogelweh Elementary School. She recently was a Math Facilitator, leading professional development for the implementation of the College and Career Ready Math Standards in the Kaiserslautern District. She also worked as a mathematics specialist at Ramstein Elementary School teaching struggling mathematicians in an intensive intervention program. As a mathematics specialist, Rebecca collaborated with colleagues to develop a systematic schoolwide process for assessing student achievement in mathematics. She provided in-depth diagnostic information to teachers and helped colleagues implement formative assessment processes in their classrooms. She co-taught and modeled strategies to integrate technology to promote conceptual understanding and communication in mathematics. She created a kid-friendly mathematics website and produced original videos to promote student involvement and enthusiasm. Previously, she served six years as an instructional systems specialist in the Pacific region and Germany. She has facilitated professional development across the curriculum for grades K–12. Rebecca has a B.S. in German and Russian from Georgetown University and a M.Ed. in elementary education from the University of New Hampshire. She is certified in kindergarten through eighth grade elementary education.
