Cynthia (Cindy) Colomb has taught middle school science at Hermosa Middle School for 15 years. Prior to that, she taught mathematics and science at Crowley Middle School in Crowley, LA. Presently, she teaches sixth grade science.  Cindy strives to bring understanding to her students of how nature and the physical world work. As Farmington Municipal Schools' science fair coordinator, as well as her school’s science fair sponsor, her passion for learning through scientific inquiry is the driving force in her lesson planning. Cindy is one of the first in Farmington to extensively utilize video conferencing in her classroom. As part of her commitment to project-based learning, she had her classes collaborate with a class in Hawaii. Research shows that when parents play an active role in their students' science education, their children achieve greater success as learners. Because of this, Cindy organizes an annual Family Shark/Lamprey Dissection Night, which gives sixth through eighth grade students and their parents the opportunity to study the anatomy of marine specimens.  Cindy earned a B.S. in elementary education from Phillips University and a M.A. in Pedagogy and Learning (with an emphasis in reading) from Eastern New Mexico State University. She is certified in kindergarten through eighth grade elementary education and is “Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages” endorsed.
