Zoe Evans is the Assistant Superintendent of Bremen City Schools in Bremen, Georgia. Before becoming an administrator in 2012, she spent 19 years teaching seventh and eighth grade science. Zoe began her career in 1993 at Howard Middle School in Ocala, Florida, and later taught at Henderson Middle School in Butts County (1995–1997), Madras Middle School in Coweta County (1997–2001), and Central Middle School in Carroll County (2001–2012). While teaching seventh grade life science at Central Middle School, Zoe received the Presidential Award in 2005. Zoe earned a B.S., M.Ed., and Ed.S. in middle grades science education and certification in educational leadership from the University of West Georgia. She also achieved National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Science and was named a Georgia Master Teacher. Zoe remains deeply engaged in the science education community. She was a member of the writing team for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and collaborated with Achieve, Inc. on several NGSS-related initiatives. She has served as an EQuIP Rubric Professional Learning Facilitator for WestEd and the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). She currently serves as a professional learning specialist for NSTA, organizing and delivering professional learning sessions nationwide. In addition, Zoe has contributed to the work of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Board on Science Education (BOSE). She was a committee member for the report Strengthening Science Education through a Teacher Learning Continuum and served as a panelist for the BOSE summit Taking Stock of Science Implementation. Zoe is an active member of the Georgia Science Teachers Association and received their highest honor, The Dallas Stewart Award, in 2024.
