For more than 20 years, Beth Terry has worked nationally and internationally as a mathematics educator in roles that include classroom teacher, mathematics coach, independent consultant, and private tutor. Beth began her career in teaching in Colorado at Byers Elementary School for six years. When Beth received the PAEMST in 2004, she was at Village East Elementary teaching second grade. While living in Virginia from 2008 to 2014, Beth was a math coach in Alexandria City Public Schools for five years as well as Fairfax County for a year. In 2014, her family moved overseas to Singapore and Bahrain. Currently, Beth is an Instructional Coach at Riffa Views International School in Bahrain. Beth earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and holds an M.A. in education from University of Phoenix. Most recently, she completed a fully synchronous second M.A. in education with a focus on Mathematics Specialist Leadership through George Mason University. By experiencing synchronous learning firsthand, Beth has been able to support students and colleagues throughout the current pandemic and has presented internationally on topics such as formative assessment and student agency in a virtual setting. Whether virtually or in-person, Beth empowers educators to provide engaging mathematics instruction and seeks to ignite the curiosity of young mathematicians. In addition to memberships in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, Beth is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Society of Military Spouses in STEM.
