David Brock has been an educator for over 35 years, and he currently teaches at the Friends School of Baltimore, where he has been the Advanced Biology teacher for the past five years. Prior to arriving at Friends, David taught for 23 years at Roland Park Country School, where he received his PAEMST Award while teaching biology. At Roland Park Country School, he was the Science Department Chair, the founding director of the STEM Institute, and the founding project manager of the Environmental Science Summer Research Experience for Young Women (E.S.S.R.E.). David has taught a wide array of disciplines, including chemistry, engineering, world history, and Advanced Placement European History, and he has served on numerous national committees devoted to STEM education. He has presented over 60 workshops on best teaching practices at the National Science Teaching Association’s many conventions, and he has over two dozen publications to his name, including the reference book, “Infectious Fungi”. David has a B.A., magna cum laude, in biology, history, and philosophy from Washington University and an M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University. He was inducted into the National Teacher Hall of Fame in 2012.
