The official biography below was current at the time of the award.

Stephanie Burke has been an educator for nine years. She has taught eighth grade General Science at West Running Brook Middle School since 2009. Her passion for the subject and her students has led her to implement 21st century approaches to teaching, including a blended learning environment that uses the flipped classroom model. For homework, students watch videos made by Stephanie, and then apply their knowledge during class through inquiry, hands-on activities, and projects. This allows students to work at different paces; they do not have to wait for direct instruction. This approach also allows students to receive daily feedback and coaching. Stephanie has also been a presenter at the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference, a guest on New Hampshire public radio, and has been asked to present on her flipped classroom to other school districts. She also was a co-winner of a $20,000 Game Changer Grant from the 21st Century Committee of Derry, NH, part of which included a set of Chromebooks for her classroom. Stephanie has a B.S. in pre-veterinary medicine from the University of New Hampshire and a M.Ed. from New England College. She is certified in elementary education and special education.
