The Presidential Award is the conformation of excellence and a dream come true. Excellence in the classroom for a teacher or a student does not simply happen. It is the result of determination and very, very hard work. You need to dream it. You need to plan for it. Then you need to act on it, day in and day out. These are the words that I live by and the message that I send to my students. I believe in them. They must work and study hard. Excellence and achievement will come.

Suzanne Kubik Middleboro, MA | 7-12, Mathematics, 2013

Suzanne Kubik has been an educator for nine years. She currently teaches Geometry, Algebra 2, and AP Statistics to 9th-12th graders at Middleboro High School. Suzanne’s favorite class to teach is AP Statistics. She loves activity-driven lessons steeped in 21st Century skills. She enjoys speaking for the Massachusetts Math and Science Initiative’s (MMSI) Statistics Saturday Study Sessions. She is active in Middleboro’s mentoring program and has supervised many student teachers and student interns.  Suzanne is advisor to the New England Champion Rubik’s Cube Club, co-advisor of the National Honor Society, and co-chair of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges’ Committee on Instruction. She is an active member of the school’s Student Strong Recognition of Excellence program. Suzanne volunteers her time with the math team and participates in the summer Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment (MCAS) program for at-risk students.  Suzanne’s favorite project was building an outdoor classroom with her MCAS Prep students following the exam. Suzanne earned a B.A. from Bucknell University and a M.Ed. in teaching and curriculum from Fitchburg State University. She is certified to teach high school mathematics and chemistry.
