Mallory Emmons (Gorry) has been an educator for 14 years and has 13 years’ experience teaching second grade at The Peck Place School in Orange, CT. She has recently accepted a position at Prendergast Elementary School in Ansonia, CT, as a kindergarten through second grade Math Specialist.
Mallory's love of teaching goes beyond the classroom. She served as a district grade level representative to develop a new context-based mathematics curriculum for the Orange Elementary School District. Mallory worked closely with grade level colleagues and new teachers to develop context-based units of study. She developed real-world examples to excite students that include a unit titled “Grade 2 Base Ten Inc.” that develops students' place value understanding through the use of money and real-world application of base ten.
Mallory is a TEAM Trained Mentor for new teachers and has served as a cooperating teacher for multiple beginning educators. She is also a member of the National Education Association and the Connecticut Education Association.
Mallory earned a B.A. in sociology, a master’s degree in elementary education, and a Sixth-Year Certificate in Education Leadership from Quinnipiac University. She holds a professional educator certificate and an intermediate administration and supervision certificate in Connecticut.
