The Presidential Award to me means allowing a teacher who has gone above and beyond for his/her students the opportunity to be recognized when otherwise the teacher may not. To me, the award also means that the winner has an incredible opportunity to serve as a leader for the state and be a role model for other teachers in the field.

Carrie "Shae" Koenigsberger has been an educator for 13 years and has spent the last seven years teaching high school mathematics at The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. She has worked with other departments to incorporate interdisciplinary lessons. She recently incorporated 3D printing in her calculus classroom and then presented this idea at a state conference. For the past five years, she has planned an annual mathematics tournament for the entire state. Shae earned a B.A. and an M.S. in mathematics education from Mississippi State University. She is a certified mathematics teacher for grades 7-12 and certified in AP Calculus BC and AP Calculus AB. She is a National Board Certified Teacher.
