Josh Rosen has been an educator for 17 years. He began his career in New York City's public elementary schools and later taught mathematics and science at M.L.K. Middle School in Berkeley, CA. Since 2006, he has served as the Math Specialist for K through sixth grade at Springhurst Elementary School. In addition to providing academic intervention services for students in fourth and fifth grade, Josh teaches daily model lessons in the classroom, offers workshops for teachers, and coordinates the school's mathematics curriculum. He works closely with parents, providing workshops to increase their understanding of their children's mathematics education. Since 2010, Josh has led Springhurst Elementary's implementation of Lesson Study, a collaborative professional development model originating in Japan. He was selected to attend the Lesson Study Immersion Program (through Tokyo Gakugei University) in 2012. This trip gave him the opportunity to observe research lessons and participate in authentic Lesson Study activities. In July 2013, Josh presented at the Staff Development for Educators' Singapore Math Strategies conference and Worcester State College's annual Singapore Math conference. Josh has a B.S in English from Syracuse University and an M.S.Ed. from Bank Street College, where he was a member of the Leadership in Mathematics Education program's graduating class of 2002.
