Chanda Davis has been teaching for 13 years.  For the past two years, she has taught Biology as well as Anatomy and Physiology at Huntsville High School.  She has a passion for teaching science and her goal is to make learning exciting by practicing real-world experimentations. Her efforts have led to grants, donations, and community connections. Chanda's students have won many awards at district and state science fairs. While she was Biology Club Sponsor, her group won third place and the People's Choice award in a canned-food design contest. She has hosted Science Night, worked with a local college to install a research weather station, and organized a blood and bone marrow drive for a student diagnosed with Fanconi anemia. Chanda has participated in professional development related to common assessment, biotechnology, inquiry-based learning, and nanotechnology. She is a member of the Science Teachers Association and has presented at regional and national conferences. Chanda was Huntsville City Schools' Teacher of the Year, the 2009 Parent Teacher Association Teacher of the Year, and a finalist for the Shell Outstanding Science Educator award. Chanda has a B.A. in biology and an M.Ed. from Alabama A&M University. She is currently completing an Ed.S. in biology curriculum. She is a National Board Certified Teacher.
