Linn Griffiths recently retired as a fully tenured teacher after 33 years of middle and high school teaching. At the time of her Presidential Award, she was teaching Advanced Placement Environmental Science and Biology at C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air, MD. Throughout her tenure, she has taught middle school life science and the following subjects at the high school level: Biology, Environmental Science, AP Environmental Science, Earth Science, Applied Science, and Life Skills Biology. Linn also served as Science Department Chair. In addition to PAEMST, other awards of Linn’s include the Secondary Conservation Teacher of the Year for the Northeast Region from the National Association of Conservation Districts as well as her school system’s Environmental Science and Green Teacher awards. She has also served as a state service learning fellow and a Chesapeake Bay Foundation mentor teacher. Linn taught graduate courses as an adjunct instructor for Plymouth State University and Notre Dame of Maryland University. She has served in many leadership roles, including as Model Department Chair for her county. She participated in several extracurricular activities with her students, including Green Team, Envirothon, American Red Cross Club, and Science National Honor Society. Linn has a degree in secondary education - biology from York College of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Loyola University in Maryland. She holds Maryland certifications in General Science, Biology, Environmental Science, and Administration/Supervision.
