Dr. Pamela Hamilton has taught science for the past 22 years in the Hoover City School District. She has spent the last 19 years teaching earth and space science to 11th and 12th grade students at Spain Park High School. She spent the previous three years at Hoover High School where she taught biology, physical science, as well as earth and space science. Pamela’s classroom is an active learning environment where mathematics and technology are often incorporated into the curriculum. Regularly, her students conduct experiments, analyze data, and work collaboratively to solve problems. She specializes in meeting the needs of all learners. Pamela is a teacher leader and has led professional development at the local, state, and national levels on topics including differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and argument driven inquiry. She models and promotes accomplished teaching. Pamela is a National Board Certified Teacher, has served on the Alabama National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Network, and on the Governor’s Commission on Quality Teaching. She was the 2008 Alabama Teacher of the Year and was inducted into the Jacksonville State Teacher Hall of Fame in 2015. Pamela earned a B.A. in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a M.S. in geoscience from Mississippi State University, and an Ed.D. in teacher leadership from Walden University. She is certified in 6–12 grade science education.
