Brandon Schrauth has been an educator for 10 years and has spent the last 4 years teaching first grade at Beaver Creek Elementary in the Johnston Community School District. He also taught kindergarten and first grade at The Downtown School for the Des Moines Public School District and kindergarten and second grade for the Waukee School District. Beyond the classroom, Brandon is a member of the Building Leadership Team, District Leadership Team, and School Improvement Advisory Committee, which focus on student achievement and school improvement. He works with his colleagues as the facilitator for their professional learning community. Brandon is also a member of the district’s Professional Development Committee, providing recommendations for teacher learning. Brandon has co-taught an Early Childhood Science Methods course at Iowa State University. He published an article in the Iowa Science Teachers Journal describing his teaching and how he sets the stage for inquiry. Brandon has led professional development involving mathematics and literacy instructional strategies. Brandon has a B.S. in elementary education and an M.S. in education with an emphasis in science and mathematics education from Iowa State University. He is a National Board Certified Early Childhood Generalist.
