Carol Biskupic Knight has 39 years of education experience, 28 of which have been as a first to seventh grade teacher. Carol is currently a fourth-grade teacher at Sato Elementary School, teaching all subjects. Her experience in curriculum and instruction as an elementary science curriculum specialist and STEAM coordinator reflects her love for effective teaching. She previously taught at schools in Bloomfield, CT, Portland, OR, and Germany. Carol was part of the national and state level Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) review and implementation teams, and established professional development for teachers on understanding and aligning to NGSS standards. She was co-principal investigator of a federal grant to increase the science capacity of 70 elementary teachers. With a background in special education and talented and gifted instruction, and a focus on English Language Learners, Carol has a passion to ensure all students have effective instruction. Carol works with students using the wonder of STEAM to engage them in a meaningful pursuit of knowledge while promoting literacy. She is a board member of the Oregon Science Teachers Association. Carol earned a B.A., magna cum laude, in education from the University of Dayton and a M.Ed. from Boston University. She is certified in elementary and handicapped learner instruction.
