Mirandi Squires has been a third grade teacher for 22 years. After 3 years working in Williamsburg County, she has taught for 19 years at Johnsonville Elementary School in Florence School District 5. She is currently a third grade self-contained gifted and talented teacher. Mirandi's love of teaching goes beyond the classroom. Eight years ago, she established the JES Teacher Book Talk/Share Club, for which she continues to be the active leader. She has served as the third grade Lead Science Teacher, a school mentor, and an evaluator for her district. She is a former Teacher of the Year for her school. Mirandi has organized veterans programs for her school community and led school fundraisers for rain forests, Haiti, and cancer patients. Mirandi attended the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy in New Jersey for mathematics and science training and now serves as a consultant for the academy on selecting new attendees. She serves on the board of the South Carolina Science Council as vice president elect, and she is a member of other teacher organizations. Mirandi has presented at several science conferences. Mirandi has a B.A. in education from Coastal Carolina College and a master's plus 30 degree in elementary education from the University of South Carolina. She is a National Board Certified Teacher.
