Steven Miller has been teaching at Upper St. Clair High School for the past 15 years. He currently teaches 9-12th-grade Introduction to Programming, Intermediate Programming, Advanced Placement Computer Science, and International Baccalaureate Computer Science. For the past ten years, he has been the Curriculum Leader for the mathematics department. As Curriculum Leader, Steven leads a team of dedicated teachers, coordinating curriculum and professional development. During his tenure in this position, Steven has worked to create a culture where his fellow teachers feel empowered to make positive contributions to the school's mathematics curriculum, resulting in the creation of a variety of new and innovative courses in mathematics and computer science. Steven believes that his students should be life-long learners, and strives to model what it looks like to be passionate about learning. His students learn the value that mistakes play in finding the path to success and what it means to have a growth mindset. Steven enjoys working with students to foster their curiosity and create positive relationships. Steven earned a B.S. in computer science from the University of Virginia. He earned a M.A.T. in secondary mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh and is certified in secondary mathematics, technology education, business communication, and information technology.
