Macey Morgan Stewart began her career with Norman Public Schools at Washington Elementary School 11 years ago as a fourth grade teacher. After her first year, she transitioned to teaching all subjects for second grade. Macey uses a hands-on approach in her teaching, utilizing mathematics centers. These centers integrate technology, games, manipulatives, and teaches the heart of the lesson. Macey is actively involved in professional development at the district and site level. At the district level, Macey has served on the Math Advisory Board to learn about best practices in mathematics and distributes that information to her faculty. As part of the district’s efforts to provide mathematics benchmark assessments, Macey became a trainer for Mastery Connect. Throughout her career, she has been an Intelligent Classroom, Technology, and Everyday Math trainer as well. This past school year, Macey attended Bal-A-Vis-X training to foster brain-body integration. At the site level, Macey serves on the leadership, hospitality, and safety committees, and is a professional learning community presenter. She also mentors several undergraduate student interns and practicum students from the University of Oklahoma. Macey earned both a B.S. in education and a M.Ed. in instructional leadership and academic curriculum from the University of Oklahoma. She is certified in elementary education.
