I am honored to receive the Presidential Award and join the ranks of distinguished past recipients. It is humbling to be chosen from a field of such talented educators. This award is an affirmation of my lifelong ambition to make positive change in children's lives. I remain steadfast in my ambition to build student confidence and understanding, and model hard work and perseverance. I am thankful for my students, colleagues, and family who have encouraged me to pursue my highest career goals.

Jennifer Donais Haverhill, MA | K-6, Mathematics, 2016

Jennifer Donais has taught in the Haverhill Public Schools for nine years. She most recently taught sixth grade mathematics at Dr. Paul Nettle Middle School and served there as the Math Interventionist. She recently started a new position as Mathematics Coach at Silver Hill Horace Mann Charter School. Jennifer engages her students in unique ways of learning by utilizing strategies in her classroom such as the flipped classroom and flexible seating. In this unique environment, students enthusiastically engage in mathematical dialogue and gain a deeper understanding of content. Jennifer has served as the Title One Parent Facilitator where she implemented such events as "Baking With Math Night “and "Math Madness." She has served both as Webmaster for her school district's mathematics department, and Curriculum Map Writer. She has presented a number of mathematics developmental workshops, and through data analysis and teacher feedback, Jennifer helps teachers implement activity-based lessons where students are supported. Jennifer earned a B.S. from Syracuse University in inclusive elementary education and special education and was awarded the prestigious Warren Fellowship. Jennifer received her M.Ed in curriculum and teaching from the Fitchburg State University. She is licensed in elementary education, special education grades one through eight, and middle school mathematics.
