Rebecca Elder has been an educator for 15 years in the Murray School District. She taught mathematics at Hillcrest Junior High for 2 years and then transferred to McMillan Elementary School to teach fifth grade. She currently teaches fourth grade at McMillan Elementary School.
Rebecca is a mathematics education leader at her school. She has coordinated and implemented Math Nights and created a program to help teachers work with students struggling with mathematical concepts.
Rebecca serves on committees within her district that deal with effective methods of teaching mathematics as well as the adoption of teaching materials. She actively helps with professional development in her school and district. She also assists other districts in Utah and California in creating formative and summative assessments.
Rebecca is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and continually studies recent research on the most effective ways to teach mathematics. She has attended conferences for Singapore Math as well as conferences hosted by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Rebecca has a B.A. in education and an M.Ed. from the University of Utah. She holds endorsements in mathematics and English language learning.
